With the news that my son and his wife were expecting our first grandchild, I wanted to build something that would become a family heirloom. I decided on a crib and changing table combination. I started with the dimensions of the mattress and a few crib safety rules and created the project using my own design. For the panels and front rails, I used a Dado stack to cut grooves in the rails and stiles for the plywood and front rail pieces. The changing table has shelves as well as two drawers, and the crib bed can be adjusted down as our granddaughter gets bigger. The crib and table are all oak and it was definitely a challenging project, making good use of many of my Ryobi tools.
