Our house had an Olive tree in the front yard. I built a low concrete wall around it, and a four-sided Redwood bench on top of that, to sit on. I buy construction grade redwood. I cut out the worst knots etc., and then re-saw and re-plane the wood using my Ryobi planer. This process more than doubles the value of the wood. During assembly, all holes are drilled using a Ryobi drill press. Setting the depth of countersink holes allows me to glue plugs over the wood screws more easily. In places the bench has backrests supported by aluminum channel. Each piece required 13 accurately placed holes for screws. Ryobi drill press again made this process quick and easy.
