I'm a first time home owner, and one of the main upgrades I wanted to do was give the garage usable storage and work space. Some of my favorite features are the LED Puck lights over the work benches (controlled by the wall switch) , the pegboard, and the 2x4 shelves. It wasn't as daunting as it looks...I'm no carpenter! The cabinets for the work benches were used (and cheap) from people on Craigslist getting rid of them while doing their own kitchen remodeling. I definitely learned a lot from this project, which was actually several small projects equalling one completed workshop.

  • What a great space, and so organized too. What was the most helpful thing you learned from these projects?

    • Well, when doing the storage shelves on one side of the garage, and the long work bench on the other... Garage floors AREN'T level, they're higher at the back and lower at the front (for drainage in case the water heater bursts)... So keep this in mind during planning, and make several measurements along the wall.

    • That's a really important tip! Thanks for sharing!

  • Awesome setup. Need to start collecting some of these things to incorporate into my dream workshop (reclaimed cabinets are a brilliant solution to garage workbench and storage).

    • Ya they really were. When I got them they weren't the same finish, so they stood out as being different, but I had already planned on painting them so I wasn't concerned. So keep that in mind if you have to get cabinets from multiple people (which I did) that their current color /finish isn't important, just paint them!

  • Nicely done. I really like all the storage and work space.

  • That’s perfect. Doesn’t seem to take up too much room either.

    • I never planned on parking my truck in the garage, but ya, it could still hold two compact cars or a single full sized car.

  • Love to have all my Ryobi Tools organized like this. My next project.
