My house was built in 1978. The original front stairs were a pre-fabricated set of concrete steps with wrought iron rails. Over time the stairs had settled and sunk away from the house not to mention the aging and weathering had really made the stairs an eyesore.
I finally determined I was going to remove the old stairs either through demolition or try to give them away. Listing them on a website for FREE provided a taker that wanted to use them as they were.
Fortunately I was able to pull the stairs away from the house and prop them up on wood blocks so they could be picked up by a flatbed towing company.
Now the project began. I installed a paver base surface after setting the pilings that would be the main support which would then proved ideal storage space below the new stairs. Utilizing a combination of wood and composite materials, the stairs were created with an added awning set up with a larger top landing. My new line of Ryobi hand tools complemented by my Ryobi table saw made the job a pleasure to do!
