Since we moved into our house 11 years ago, my wife has wanted french doors onto our back deck. I was finally able to make her dream come true with some help from her father. We removed the old single door and then enlarged the opening to fit the new one. We replaced the header to accommodate the larger opening. After much measuring and thought, we test fitted the door. To our delight, and amazement, it fit snugly. We removed the door, applied caulking and sealant, then installed the door permanently. We made sure the door was level and adjusted the threshold for smooth opening. I finished up the interior work, insulation, drywall and paneling. Then I caulked the exterior trim and painted the exterior for a nice finished look. Now we have a new outlook to our back yard and deck. And I have a happy wife.
