Fireplace Mantel

I made a mantel from 3 pieces of project wood panels from HD. The mantel we currently have is very little and I started shopping around for one online but they range from $200 - $400 for a piece of wood! This is when I decided to grab my Ryobi tools and make one. I used my Ryobi circular saw, nail gun, wood glue, and obviously wood. I spent a total of $34 in wood + the stain and sealer. It took me roughly 5 hours total, first cutting and assembling, sanding, then staining and sealing. I also added some indentations to the wood using random tools to give it more of a rustic look. My wife picked out the stain. After we upgraded the mantel then we also decided to add rocks around the fireplace.

  • The new mantle looks amazing! It's incredible how much money you can save when you build something yourself. Great job, plus we love the rocks you've added too!
