I bought foreclosed/unloved house and the fireplace was in need of a make-over. Besides painting the room,I started out by using a diamond blade to cut an insert out for the tv. I then used faux stone to tile part of the fireplace. I then shiplapped and crowned the top and then topped it off with a new mantel. However, I was still in need of a wow factor so I added some floating shelves. I used a propane torch to burn the wood and then applied a stain and poly.
