This table was inspired by the Shanty Chics video. I used there plans in building the first table I ever built. I used construction wood and planed all the pieces to the table down to 1 1/8", this made the top and frame somewhat lighter. The base is 4x4 legs and 2x6 aprons. The support braces were made of 2x4's, the benches frames were made of 2x4 the tops on both table and benches were 2x10 pine boards milled down to make the table top 6 foot and the benches at 52". Being my first table I wanted to make sure to start with a less complex design and have clean lines. I used Minwax walnut stain for the tops of the table and benches, and painted the bases with a titanium grey flat paint. Both pieces were coated in Minwax polyurethane (3 coats).
