I made this table as a housewarming gift for my best friend and her husband. I was telling her about my latest projects one day and she jokingly said "you should make me a farmhouse table." I stored that little request away in my mind and sure enough three weeks later, one of the blogs I follow posted plans for a farmhouse table. I had to adjust to fit the dining area, but it was easy enough. Right now I'm in a "build to learn" phase and I learned a lot. The plan recommended using two 2x4's as the X of the base so you could screw from the back, but I think I would use a 4x4 in the future and screw from the front. My friend loved it! She chose a weathered grey stain, I wouldn't have picked that color but I'm glad she did because it turned out BEAUTIFULLY and I would definitely use it again. I'm building one of these for my back patio next!
