My project was to take a couple different bed styles I had seen and meld them into one functional yet stylish bed. I started by finding two different bed plans that had the things we wanted - a farm style head and foot boards, and a useable under bed storage system. After gathering different measurements for the room and how we wanted it to fit, I had my father create a set of CAD drawings specifically for this project. This allowed us to make sure what we wanted to do would work and look good, and also create a detailed materials list. After that it was just a matter of a lot of hard work, deciding on the stain color, and getting it moved up into the room. I have a decent amount of tools, but my Ryobi power hand tools really made a big difference in getting the project done. Having multiple drills and orbital sanders really made the assembly and finishing go faster. These tools in conjunction with a Shop Smith are really what got the project done.
