Having focused on ergonomics, in support of my five year old grandson's great desire to read and due to his Cerebral Palsy, he needed an ergonomic reading stand to help his posture and was solidly built to prevent any tipping. I came up with a reading stand that can be used on the bed or floor, both positions require a vertical back support. It positions the reading material at the correct angle and distance. It straddles his legs/hips comfortably, is stable and weighs enough so that it doesn't move unless he intentionally slides it forward. The four hours it took to make was mostly in planning (3 hours) and 1 hour in construction. It has a lip to hold the books and is a countertop-like surface that cleans easily when he does artwork. The best part is spending time together reading.
