Entertainment Center - with Library Ladder

I have a big wall in my living room and tall ceilings. My previous store bought entertainment center didn't fit the space well so I decided to watch youtube videos and learn how to build an entertainment center. The counter top is made from solid cherry wood I milled down and glued up to width. The shelves alternate cherry and plywood pieces. Each of the doors were built from scratch, though the glass was installed by a local glass shop. Inside the cabinets are pull out drawers and built in shelves to hold just about anything. I added some trim and a library ladder to finish it off. I have to admit, the library ladder never gets used, but it looks cool! The height of this shelving really makes the room look bigger as it draws the eyes upward. The unit was built in small manageable sections but fit together with trim to hide that fact. It turned out to be much easier than I thought it would because of that.

  • Wow! It fits the space beautifully! Great job figuring it out on your own. The ladder really adds character.
