Enclosed patio

Our 18' by 25' patio slab has always been a place where the wife likes to keep plants, I like to cook out, and the animals sit by the screen door wishing they could join us. In Florida the sudden rain storms, heat, sun, and bugs can also make it difficult to enjoy. The project was to create a semi-enclosed room that lets the sun and air in, while keeping out the rain and also allows the animals to join us while keeping the raccoons and larger critters out. Simple project with rafters attached to side wall at the header and stretching to a 4x4 post and double 2x6 frames with joist hangars. The rafters are kept true with 2x4 bracing and covered with Suntuff clear panels. The 2 outside walls are made up of plastic lattice on the bottom and heavy duty fence at the top, with a ledge to go around as shelving. Ceramic tile made for patios (has a non-skid surface), hooks and shelves for plants and decorations, and an electric grill round out the patio. The project used several boxes of screws, lots of cross cutting, and use of a power saw for bigger cuts. All Ryobi one plus tools meant there was always a battery handy, and the 6 port charger meant all batteries were ready to go. Cross cutting all those 2x4s without having to set up a heavier chop saw or carry the wood to the front of the house was very convenient, and the circular saw made quick work of cutting the rafter angles and all lattice. I only had 1 Ryobi drill, another would have helped to avoid quite a bit of swapping out tool bits for drill bits –however, my birthday is coming up.
