Hello my name is Malia. My fiancé Matt and I build a luxury dog house for our male Pomeranian Donald "Ducky". This is the first dog house we ever built. Ducky loves to hide under tables and in little cubby areas, so we decided to build him his own personal "cave". My Fiancé and I built his dog house together, I am Fine Arts Artist and my fiancé is really handy and great with power tools. So we decided it would be fun to put our skills together and build Ducky a luxury style dog house. I drew up a design of what I wanted the house to look like and we got started right away. We made a cabin on the front with a mountain on the back to represent our dogs cave. We wanted it to look like a beautiful luxury cabin on a mountainside. The house is two levels with two separate entrances, it has padded stairs with cabin style fabric that leads up to a sleeping area/ landing on top. Ducky can sleep on top or use those stairs as a way to get up and down from the couch without having to jump. The inside has a plush pillow covering the floor so he is comfortable. We added windows so we could see inside easier and to bring in more light. On the 2nd level inside the windows we decorated the space as if it was Ducky's room, with faux grass, a dog bowl, and dog toys. The 2nd floor and roof can be opened for easy access to the inside if needed. I added lots of final details and artistic touches to finish off the look, like curtains on the door for more privacy, stone accent on the outside of the house, and a faux mountain side with trees to complete the look of a true house in the mountains. The house is made of wood with square wood dowels on the outside to give a log cabin look, the stone and mountain are made from hand carving and shaping styrofoam and hand painting it all to look like stone and rock. Everything was made and sewn by hand. We created everything ourselves including the plans to make this dog house. I hope you like it as much as Ducky does. Ducky loves the snow and the mountains which is what inspired the look of his house.
