Dog Sled

I have always been fascinated with Sgt. Preston of the Mounties and how dog sleds were the main transportation. A friend gave me an ash log which I sliced up using my chainsaw mill. I was surprised to find the heart of the log was darker than the rest. I further milled the lumber with my Ryobi tools. I learned how to steam bend the wood for the handle and brush guard. I use a heat transfer method to imprint pictures onto the back rest of the sled. I used two coats of Marine Poly over a natural wood stain. The runners are waxed using regular ski wax or canning wax. I have made 6 sleds in all, donating 4 to charities to use for raffles at no cost to them.
