I needed to build something for my dog to get her off the ground and some shelter. I managed to reclaim wood and also the tin I used from various places. The deck gets her off the ground to avoid soil contact, while using wood instead of cement is cooler and better for the joints. I built a slated roof over the kennel from cedar pickets, for additional shading, and as a deterent from trying to jump or crawl over like my lab used to do to me. I also added cedar picket about the dog house to fill the void.
The dog house I built from 2 x 4 for the structure, lined the inner walls with fiberglass milk board (for easy cleaning) used rigid insulation in the walls, then added an 8 x 10 window for lighting, the porch is from cedar picket and then tinned the outside with aluminum for protection from the elements. I also hinged the roof for easy access to clean the inside.
I'm going to add a second dog house here soon to go on the other side as plan on adding a second dog soon.
