We wanted a new patio table but couldn't find anything that fit what we were looking for. We wanted something low that could be used with adirondack chairs but was big enough to fit 6-8 people. I decided to go with a box bottom so it could also be used for storage of all the kid toys we have knocking around the yard. Making it wasn't too difficult, but it ended up being a heavy table. The bottom is about 3' x 3' and the top is 5' 6" x 5' 6". Pocket holes were used to put the top and bottom together. Since it's heavy I plan on installing hinges and gas springs/struts to help with opening the top (not quite done with that part yet though). The benches were made from Ana White's 4x4 Truss Bench plans. The adirondack chairs were made from kits from Home Depot so I can't take credit for them :). Everything was stained with Olympic outdoor deck stain in Cinder color.
