Three years ago the retired principle of our high school ask for some help to tear down and rebuild a log cabin in front of the school ,to be used by the kids to learn of the early years 1800 forward .We have just finished the cabin and are really proud of it.I furnished a lot of the tools for the project ,we had no power there unless some one would bring a generator. The cabin is two stories high the second floor is used kind of like a class room I made benches so the kids can set down up there ,the bottom floor is setup as the old times. I made a tressel table ,a hoosier cabinet, a rope bed and all the windows for the project.

  • This project is astounding! What a truly amazing task to undertake. It's wonderful that through all your hard work, many children will be able to experience a little piece of history. Do you know how old the original cabin was? How long did this project take you from start to finish?

  • The project started three years ago ,We only work two days a week tuesdays and thursdays we are all retired and our wives are glad to get us out of the house it was a great project. The original log house is thought to have been built in 1864 .Now we have just poured a foundation for a Blacksmith shop and a outside brick bread oven we hope this will not take as long thanks for letting us enter Gary Holt
