I wanted to create a unique crib for our upcoming first child, so I looked up a basic crib plan to get started on. Once I got into the project, I decided it needed some deviations from the plan -- I wanted a solid back with a crescent moon cut into the center. I hand drew the moon and the shape of the back on some construction paper and made all the measurements to ensure it would look the way I wanted. I hand sanded each board as I put it together, applied coats of poly+stain and finished it with furniture wax. I couldn't be happier with my daughter's first bed!
