Crayon Bed

The wife and I designed the bed since our son loves to color
The head and foot boards are made of ship lap wood attached together and fixed to a plywood frame
The headboard is hung on the wall using a french cleat
The footboard is attached to the met bed frame with carriage bolts

I just started woodworking so the crayon tip profile took some time to cut out exactly
Painting was the most time consuming largely because of waiting for the paint to dry before moving on

Turned out almost exactly as we had imagined and my son loves it

  • This is an amazing turnout! What a great idea. Did you use a circular saw to do the crayon tips?

    • jig saw and orbital sander for the first one Then jigsaw to get a close enough replica which was then finalized with a trim router with a flush trim bit for the remaining 8 crayon tips
