This Coffee table was created by taking 4 crates and attaching them together on their sides to form a square, then attaching that assembly to a 3/4" 27"x27" plywood base and trimming that with with screen molding. Next I attached 4 metal leg receivers to accomodate the block feet. All pieces were sanded and stained prior to assembly (this took the most time). When the crates were assembled, this created a square hole in the center. I attached the leftover screen moulding to the inside of the hole creating a "lip", then made a "lid" with the left over 3/4" plywood and attached a handle so this area could be used for small storage. This was not an original idea as I saw it on DIY-Vintage-Chic (definitely have to give the creative credit where due for the idea!) but I modified a few minor componants. This was the first piece of furniture I've built and I had so much fun, it won't be my last!

  • Love this project! Thanks for sharing it. Our local arts/ crafts store had these crates on sale right now. I'm making this my first project with my new Ryobi tools.
