Craft and Storage Cabinet

My girlfriend has a lot of crafting supplies but had nowhere to keep it all. She had some specific ideas on what she wanted and how she wanted to organize everything.
After coming up with a design she approved of, I picked up material (in the first of many trips to Home Depot) and got started.
I'd never built a cabinet before, so everything was new to me. I looked up a lot of tips online, and found measuring accurately and using a square was the most important part of making everything fit the way I wanted.
I learned a lot about mounting hinges and drawer slides that will definitely come in handy. We have had a lot of compliments on the cabinet, and my girlfriend loves it.

  • Great job!! Looks awesome! Did you find the plans for that cabinet or did you make it from scratch with your own measurements?

  • I wanted to build it in two sections so it's easier to move when the time comes. I found a few different plans that I liked, combined a little of each of them, then made up my measurements from there. http://ana-white.com/2010/03/build-beautiful-nursery-armoire?page=1 http://ana-white.com/2013/05/plans/toy-or-tv-armoire http://ana-white.com/2010/03/plans-not-just-the-doors-how-about-the-whole-armoire-the-favorite-bookcase-with-doors.html

  • Great looking project and keeping the girlfriend happy!!! What stain did you use and did you spray it on or brush it?
By JRfarmer, on January 22, 2015

  • I used Minwax stain and clear coat. I had to mix Ebony with grey to get the colour I was looking for. I brushed the stain on with a good quality brush
