My wife and I designed and this spice cabinet and chose the colors and fabric together. I built it in about five hours with a Ryobi circular saw and an 18 volt drill as the only power tools. The priming and painting took two more days to accommodate drying time. The entire project was cut out of 1 x 4 syp and a luan back panel and measures 18" x 24" x 4". The door frames were ripped to 3/4" square and the sides and top were notched to recess the back panel, all by the circular saw. The shelves are faced with a miniature picket fence adapted from a local craft store that fit inside the cabinet when the doors are closed. The picket fences acts as rails for the spice bottles. The door inserts are reversible panels that are stretched between two wood dowels. Brass surface hinges are used to make the doors functional. The cabinet holds 32 bottles and is wall hung over the breakfast bar.
