My wife wanted a new coffee table but did not want to spend hundreds of dollars so I suggested I make her one as part of the Ryobi Nation 2X4 challenge. My inspiration for the coffee table came from the Shanty 2 Chic Farmhouse Bench.
One big challenge I faced was coming up with my own dimensions and then realizing after it is screwed together I did not like. My wife thought it was OK, but I couldn't handle it so I took it apart and made adjustments.
One new method I tried was making the new wood look older. I stained the table first and then applied paint. Before the paint was fully dry I used steel wood to rough up/remove some of the paint over multiple areas of the table.
End result: MY WIFE LOVES IT. I finished just in time for Christmas.
