Christmas Reindeer

This project was undertaken in order to give a memorable gift to my mother. With a tight budget I thought this would be a great gift that would last many years. The hardest part was getting the body parts to be proportional, I made cardboard cutouts first and it took a couple iterations in order to get the right size and shape I wanted. Cutting the insert holes took a lot of measuring and calculations, it also required a very steady hand cutting the holes to exact size. I sanded the edges to make it smooth and then painted it white. I drilled holes in the feet in order to insert a tent peg, this will hold the reindeer steady in winds. People seem to like it so far. My neighbors want me to build them one now. I have not given it to my mom yet, I plan to do that over thanksgiving, but I'm sure that she will love it.

  • Wow, Charlton, Mom absolutely loves rhe reindeer! It has pride of place on the front lawn and so many passer by's have commented that they want one! It is so easy to set up and when Christmas is over it will undo and packup into very small area for storing. Thanks Charlton.
