Picked this tailgate up in Blue Ridge Mountains and decided to make it into a bench for our entry way. Came out pretty good for my first one.

  • Very nice!  I have a tailgate in the shed that I have wanted to build something like this.  How did you attach the tailgate to the 4x4 wood posts?  I have a lot of exposed metal that protrudes from the sides, so I have been deciding the best way to attach the two.

    • The bottom part of the tailgate I used a 1/2 threaded rod, 60" in length cut down to size from home depot. Used a tap/die set to thread the hole where the tailgate attached to the truck bed and ran it straight through the 4x4 posts. For the top I used the existing brackets on the tailgate and just bolted them through the top of the post/4x4.
