Cedar Fence Picket Charcoal Grill Party Station

This project was based on the last 2 years of owning a smokey joe and having to bend over every time I went to grill, which was often. After receiving a full sized grill as a birthday gift I knew it was time to make a move. By using cedar fence pickets as the main source of wood and building plans in Sketchup I attempted to keep this project accessible to all.

  • May be a stupid question, but how (with the grill where it is) do you prevent the cedar from becoming charred over time? Thanks, and by the way, very nicely done :)

  • Not out all. I been looking for a perfect design for a sound for a charcoal grill and only find plans for profane grills. It's always been my concern with the wood catching fire.

  • I should have plans up soon. As for the concern over burning or charring the wood I have heard it a lot in the coarse of building haha. I took careful consideration in lining the areas where they would be in close quarters and lined it with 1/16th aluminum stock... not a perfect barrier but has proven to reflect most of the heat.
