This project used a well-known hack using premanufactured bookshelves and trimming them out to give the look of built-in bookshelves. When we decided this was going to be our next project, I drew the entire project in a free design program using actual dimensions of the room and bookshelves. This allowed me to recognize issues and design a solution prior to even cutting the first piece of wood. It also allowed my client (a.k.a. my wife) to see what the final product was going to look like. Overall the project took about 6 days total from start to finish. This was spread out over a few weekends.

  • Such a smart approach, and it turned out beautifully! Great design and handiwork! Thank you for sharing how you used the design program for planning.
