I had to rebuild the first set of stairs into my winter cabin. The original build was of no treated lumber, unsafe nailed on stair hangers and posts dug in at a shallow depth. They where crooked and close to being dangerous.
I rebuilt the footing to float and incorporated adjustable supports should either side move out of plumb. I used treated lumber and cut out stair stringers to support the treads. I wa able to reuse some lumber to finish the railings.

  • Terrific job here. The stairs look significantly more sturdy and definitely safer. Good call on the concrete slabs at the bottom, too.
