I have a one-car garage that I needed to make space to store my wife's and my bicycles, her Miatia, my motorcycle, and still have room to work on projects at my workbench. Well, the only place to go with them was up. However, if I just attached them to the ceiling, I would constant be bumping into them with my head. So I utilize about two foot of attic space by framing out two cubbies so I could recess them into the celing. Now I have plenty of room to work on my projects. I also now have two stand-ip paddle boards and two wake boards hanging from the ceiling for whenever I need them. But don't worry about the ceiling falling, as I reinforced the ceiling to handle the extra weight.
