In the spring of 2017 I started building an off grid cabin on my 40 acres in Central Wisconsin. The cabin sits above the ground on reclaimed wood high tension power line poles sunk 6 feet in the ground and 3 feet above. The cabin is 800 sq. ft. with 2x6 studs, 10 foot walls, plenty of windows, and a vaulted 6/12 rise ceiling. It is powered by a solar power system, and generator power when needed. It is heated with an Old Timer wood stove that I restored, and also a Remington Vent Free wall furnace as a backup. It has a steel roof pitched at 8/12 and cedar trim around the windows, doors, and siding seems. I only work the cabin 1 to 2 weekends per month as I live outside of Chicago, so it has taken a while to get it to where it is.
