"Batten down the hatches"

My fiancé and I bought a house built in 1880 and made the old living room our bedroom. We did a DIY board and batten project for the walls. SUPER easy!! For my birthday (also the day we closed in the house) I got a chop saw, nail gun and drill. I was one happy girl and this was a great beginners project. We bought sheets of MDF and had the store cut them in 3.5" strips for us. Then painted them and the wall prior to assembling on the wall. That made everything much easier. Our room is BIG and still cost less than $150.
