Barn Door Build for Mud Room

My wife never liked that our mud room off the garage was open for all to see: shoes, coats, and the mess left behind by an active family. After seeing a home improvement show using a sliding barn door, my wife said, "Why don't you build us one?".

After a little web searching for inspiration and a trip to my local Home Depot, we came back with 1 X 8 tongue and groove boards, wood glue, some screws, and a new Ryobi sander. We ordered the barn door hardware online.

My Ryobi tools helped make this project go surprisingly well. My favorite was using my Ryobi ONE+ cordless blower to clean up and blow out the garbage before staining and varnishing the door.

It was a fun family project with my son helping to build and my wife supervising. It came out better than expected and the reaction from friends and family has been great!

It will be nice to slide the door shut and hide things when guests are over for the holidays!
