  • You'll want to put doors that open into the covered portion--this is to provide weather protected space for feet trimming, vet visits, grooming, etc. Also, it's nice to have some sort of screened opening between the stalls so that the horses can see each other without running outside. My own barn has fixed walls half-way up from the bottom. There are vertical pipes going from the top of this wall to the ceiling, spaced about 3 inches apart. I'd like to see your progress as I'm in the process of building six stand-alone stalls---pipe frame with 2 x 6 lumber stacked horizontally for the walls. Good luck with your project.
