Backyard Under Water

Backyard was a mess of weeds, clover and grass and always under water after rainfall for how sloped our yard was. Even the dog didn't want to go out there for how sloppy wet it always was.
Couldn't afford to dig up and put a drainage system in so I made backyard virtually a mower-free area with mulch and ground cover laying sand first to absorb a lot of water.
We then dug out 8 inches deep for patio area and laid sand there with pebbles. This is where water gathered a lot. We laid out patio pavers and fixed the water problem. I added several garden beds that would absorb the excess water.
Me, a single mother and 2 daughters age 20 and 21 did all this ourselves. I taught my girls that they can do anything they put their mind to.
