Grandaughter's rocking horse
I made a rocking horse for my grandaughter who just turned 4. She named the rocker "Seabiscut " like the movie. The rocker was made from a pattern that I bought on line. However, I made changes to it to make it original. I used the Ryobi Oscillating sander quite often in the construction of the horse. In addition, I used the 4" 6" belt sander. There are no metal screws in this rocker but I used my Ryobi drill to bore for wooden dowels. I carved the flowers from aspen that was purchased from a local Home Depot. The cross spindles were made from ash baseball stock and the base was made from a piece of cocobola in lieu of the plan base. It that was too hard to put on a lathe so I made a tool to scrape and shape the base My wife made the pillow for the seat. I hand rubbed the final finish with micro-mesh 8000 grit and water from a spray bottle. I put numerous coats of lacquer on it and applied Bri-wax for a final buff. I always love making things for my grandchildren.
