"Cluck"ingham Palace

After several years of secretly wanting chickens, a spontaneous Saturday trip to the farm store netted our family a few adorable baby chicks. But, chicks can only live in the brooder for so long!! The debate began: build or buy? We poured over hundreds of plans and spent countless hours shopping for a ready made chicken coop. We finally chose a small coop with an attached run. Cute and convenient...or so we thought. It finally arrived and the kids really enjoyed putting it together. There was only one problem...it was really only big enough for about 2 chickens to live in, and the run was only big enough for fresh air. Very tight quarters. So, back to the drawing board. This is what we came up with. Our coop will comfortably house 12-14 full size chickens!! We have not started on the run yet, but there will be an attached, covered run for those unpleasant weather days.
