Rocking Horse

After working for most of my life, I have recently become unemployed. With time on my hands, I decided to build a rocking horse for the birth of my first grandchild. I went on-line and found some plans. I used 3 pieces of 1X12X6’ pine board. I ripped the boards down to manageable sizes using a circular saw. After I laid out the different patterns on the boards, I used a band saw to cut them out. Using a belt sander, I smoothed out all of the pieces. I finished off the edges with a table router and finish sander. Attaching the pieces was completed by predrilling holes, screwing and gluing each piece together. I stained the horse and then finished it off with 3 coats of tongue oil. I hope my granddaughter enjoys it as much as I did building it. Accomplishing this endeavor, has given me to confidence to pursue additional woodworking projects.
