School Beautification Makes a Positive Difference!
Family and Friends, Parents, and students (about 50 of us) all got together and we spent about 8 hours one Saturday adding curb appeal to our children's school. The project made a positive impact for both the teachers and the children. They were all so proud how beautiful their school looked! We used so many different tools-there were even trees that were dead that we had to use a chainsaw to cut it down. We used cordless edgers, trimmers, as well as electric pruners for the shrubs that had gotten so out of hand. The cordless tools really came in very handy. Shovels, a cultivator and good old muscles were used for previously bare areas to get them ready for new plantings.
And when we all done, we used a blower to get all the debris into piles and then removed via wagons to a mulching area. Then we also pressure-washed the side-walk areas. What a difference this all made!!
I think my 4 year old son got the dirtiest of everyone (he's in the 2nd picture, pulling the wagon)-he worked tirelessly all day. My daughter's favorite part, of course, was planting the pretty flowers (she's in pic 5 below-taking her batch of flowers to the planting area) We were all sore that night, but it was a great kind of sore - we had done something positive for 500 children and their teachers!
So cool what can be accomplished when you have great volunteers! I know the community really appreciates it. Nice job!
