My daughter was married in April 2013 and wanted to have a special item for displaying her wedding cake. I built this cake stand that is modeled after Cinderella's Carriage. It is approximately 48 inches tall. The main frame, support arms, and wheels are all made of 3/4" MDF. I made actual size drawings and transferred them to the wood before cutting them out with my Ryobi Jigsaw. It took two days to cut out all four wheels. I also used the jigsaw for cutting the detailed support arms. I screwed scrap pieces of 2x4's to a sheet of OSB and made a bending jig for the PVC pipe that makes up the "pumkin" shaped portion. I put each piece into the jig and using a heat gun, heated the pipe until it relaxed into the new shape! I then added LED lighting strips to the inside of each and connected them with a dimmer so I could adjust the intensity to illuminate the cake. She LOVED it and it was a big hit at the reception !!
