We love our basement and the retro 1960's look it has going, but it's also dimly lit and in need of some electrical rewiring (all the plug-ins are hooked up to light switches!). We also planned for some of the space to be used as an office area, so we want to build some custom shelving units for a built-in office look in the corner. Also, we absolutely love the orange bar top (who wouldn't!?) but the wet bar leaves little to be desired so I'd like to install a new backsplash. Also, we have a mini-fridge but nowhere to put it so we're also going to install a built-in cubby into the back wall. Lastly, I want to do something different with the floors, but I'm not sure which would be better, to replace the school-cafeteria-like tiles or to just paint over them, but I'm leaning towards painting them!
