    • This is a really impressive build! You really made great use of the original shape of the pallet bases- you turned them into a really nice design on the sides. Did you have to do a lot of work to the pallet wood to get it ready for toy storage?

      • Thank you for the kind words. The design is not exactly what I intended. I was going to utilize the pallet bases for the horizontal tops and bottoms but decided it would add too much weight to the overall project. The hardest part was disassembling the pallet without damaging too many of the boards. I ended up taking apart 5 pallets to ensure I would have enough usable boards which also gave me a larger selection to choose from. Some of the boards still have the nail heads in them where I couldn't remove them completely, but it adds to the character. Apart from sanding each board first with 80 grit sandpaper, I didn't do anything else to them. Once it was assembled I sanded again with 150 grit sandpaper and smoothed over the edges since it would be for a little boy (no splinters). I did ensure that each pallet I used was stamped with HT (heat treated).

      • I intended for this to be in the Halloween Challenge contest. Did I not submit it correctly?
By John Card, on October 18, 2016

    • Hi, John- this project has been entered as part of the challenge. The segment where entries are viewed is not reflecting the contest entries at the moment- we'll look into that!
By RYOBI Nation, on October 18, 2016
      • OK, Thanks. I thought it was suspicious that there were only four entries.
