Week One - Deep Cleaning
Watch the video as Serena from Thrift Diving (www.thriftdiving.com) walks you through the steps to deep clean your patio. You’ll get to see how big of a difference a freshly cleaned patio can make!
Step 1: Choosing the Right Tools
Take a look at your deck or patio. Over time, dirt and grime slowly builds up. It happens so subtlety that day to day, you might not even notice! In order to really deep clean your patio, you will need a pressure washer. For help deciding what kind of pressure washer is right for you, check out our buying guide.
The pressure washer in the video is the 2000 PSI RYOBI Electric Pressure Washer.
Step 2: Preparing the Surface
Before pressure washing, clear off loose debris from the surface. You can use a broom, or a leaf blower to get the job done even faster.
Yard Hack: this is also a great thing to do each weekend before you have people over!
Step 3: Selecting the Right Nozzle & Accessories
It’s important to select the correct nozzle when pressure washing different surfaces. Each nozzle has a different spray pattern made for a specific type of cleaning. There are also nozzles for applying soap when you need it. To save time, consider buying additional accessories to get into hard-to-reach places or cover more ground in a fraction of the time!
The accessory used in this video is an 11” electric surface cleaner.
Step 4: Pressure Washing
Check our our tips before starting:
- Before pressure washing with a new nozzle on a new surface, test out the spray in an area that is not as visible.
- While you’re pressure washing, make sure to keep the wand moving as you clean. This will reduce the likelihood of cleaning marks.
- On walls, start high and work your way down, this will wash away the dirt as you clean.
