Holiday Project Challenge-Pedal Car

I just finished my Holiday Project Challenge Pedal Car that I made for my Grandson. I purchased a blank metal chassis via the internet and decided to draw up something that would look similar to an old fashioned race car for the body. I purchased some 1/8" thick plywood from a local Home Depot Store and cut it to my drawing dimensions. I then took the plywood soaked it in the bathtub using hot water and amonia , then formed it around a 5 gallon plastice bucket tied down for several days. I used several Ryobi products to make this gift. I used my Ryobi 3/8 corded drill, 18v 7' Circular Saw, my Ryobi Drill press and Ryobi forstner bits to do most of the woodworking. However, the most frequently used tool was my 4" belt sander. I painted the car with eight coates of enamel wet sanding between each application. Two coates of clear finish was wet sanded between coates for the final finish. I cut the running boards from an old floor mat. The best part of this Holiday Project is yet to come. The best part will be when I see my grandson's face when he see's this gift from Santa.

I had so much fun making this that now I'm making one out of cedar and ash.
