Mom's basement remodel
Back in the late 50's my Dad paneled the walls in my parents basement with 11 inch wide, 3/4 inch thick knotty fir T&G planking. Needless to say, after 50 years the wood was tinder dry, an extreme fire hazard. The basement was ill lit with only two wall mounted single bulb fixtures. My project was to replace the wood paneling with drywall, R&R acoustical tile ceiling, add ceiling lighting, two additional outlets & install ceiling insulation to improve heating efficiency and reduce sound from upstairs and paint of course. My primary tools of choice were my trusted (3) Ryobi 18V drills and circular saw.
