Antique Buffet in to bathroom Vanity redo!

This beautiful piece of furniture belonged to my wife's grandfather. We had both liked this style of furniture for use as a vanity and had seen others convert such pieces, so I decided to take a shot at it. I wanted to keep the integrity of this antique piece, and the surface was primarily in good condition, so I opted not to strip the finish. Every drawer box was rebuilt, not only to allow for the new plumbing, but also because the old ones were to far gone to try to reuse. I wanted a granite top but because we were working on a tight budget, I had to get creative. I liked the shape of the original oak top and wanted to redo it somehow. Remembering a piece of solid surface counter top I had gotten from a kitchen remodel, I saw the perfect opportunity to reuse yet again! After removing the solid surface from the old particle board I glued it to the original buffet top, trimmed it up to fit the the edge of the original top, beveled the edges, and then put a nice buffed polish on the surface. The sink bowl was given to us by a lady I work with that was having her bathroom redone. The faucet was from our original vanity and we thought the style went really well with the new look of our "buffet". All in all, almost everything in this design was re-purposed material, another fact that we are proud of! We now have a family piece we are happy to display, something we can truly say is original, our own design, and we had the help of RYOBI tools to make it happen. Thanks RYOBI!
