New Addition Meant New Addition

This project grew out of necessity as our 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house had suddenly become too small when my wife delivered the news of a unexpected addition to our family. Without enough money or equity in our present home to give serious consideration for a bigger home purchase, it was decided that we would add to our current house. Closing in the carport seemed like a natural direction, the only real dilemma was finding brick that would match the existing brick out. The project took approximately 1 month using entire weekends and 4 vacation days or 130 + man hours of combined labor.

The project was initiated by closing the garage in, by bricking the openings to complete all of the walls. Then framing was begun, while also running the electrical wiring, ventilation for air & heat. Once the framing was completed, the dry wall was set. I don’t mind telling you that many of those 130+ hours was spent with the pleasant company of my Ryobi 18-Volt One+ Battery Operated Radio and the music it delivered to me without fail! I did contract to have the dry wall taped and sanded, as well as had a local air & heat man come to ensure all was completed properly and professionally.

Once this was all completed, the work of painting the walls and installing the flooring was begun. Was at this point that my 9 year old son, (who the new bedroom was for) assisted with the painting as well as the flooring installation which was done with the assistance of the Pneumatic Flooring Nail gun I rented from Home Depot.

Awesome job! Way to make good things happen. I'm sure your son is thrilled with his new room. From the photos, it looks like he has some baseball skills of his own. Congrats on the new addition to the family as well!
