Rain Gutter Planter

During a recent deck addition to our home, we removed a section of rain gutter. I decided to utilize this gutter as a new planter on our new deck railing. I cut the gutter to lenght, 22', installed the end caps, and fastened it to the side of the hand rail. I drilled 3/8" holes on 2' centers covering them with landscape fabric for drainage and to keep the soil inside. I filled the planter with potting soild that I amended with peat moss and water retaining crystals. Since it gets over 6 hours of sunlight a day, I planted sun loving Vinca flowers in pinks, reds, violet and white. I also included some hanging vines in the mix. The butterflies and hummingbirds absolutely love it! It has made such a striking addition to our new deck.

That is a great idea how to recycle and be creative.... Well done, I will use that information to my advantage.

Thank you

Anytime someone thinks outside the box with a recycle idea, it can ONLY be right. Awesome idea. I'll sell this idea to my remodel customers.
